Tan Chui Mui, a 28-year-old Malaysian director bags major award at Pusan International Film Festival. The Chinese director won the international movie critics’ award and shared the prize for best new Asian filmmaker.

It’s a proud achievement for Malaysian film makers, and it comes especially meaningful for Malaysia Chinese film that’s often neglected by Malaysia government when it comes to funding and recognition.

Hope that this award winning can give Malaysia government the idea that Chinese movies are making fame for Malaysia and deserve the support just like Malay movies.

It’s kinda ridiculous to see government supporting projects based on languages or races. Things should be treated fairly as long as it can bring development to Malaysia in respected field and to help building a good Malaysia image worldwide.

Congrats to Tan, with her award winning movie, “Love Conquers All.”
