The recent development of Asian Strategy and Leadership Institute (ASLI) issue has proved just one thing.. Malaysia government is always right!

The story started when ASLI produced a report that Malays control 45% of Malaysia’s corporate equity instead of only 19% from government official reports.

Without providing statistical evidence from both parties and studying into details, government leaders started slamming the ASLI report.

It’s irony that Malaysia government have strived all these years to close the economic gap between races, but when there’s a study revealing that their policies are working, the government are not happy about it.

Obviously lots of Malay leaders felt threatened by the ASLI report in fear that their special privelleges are being ripped off, and that the rich Malays cannot continue to rip the benefits of NEP.

I am not going to doubt the genuinity of both government and ASLI report, as I understand there are numerous methodology when producing statistical data in the same topic, which could lead to great variations in results.

It’s highly possible that Malays are controlling 45% of Malaysia’s corporate equity, but that’s only a little group of Malays where as a much larger group of Bumiputeras are still at the edge of poverty.

It’s pity that there’s no chance for the government and public to study further into the racial economic development with the ASLI data, as ASLI have retracted their report under pressured. (Although both ASLI and government claimed that there’s no pressure to retract the report, it will take a 3-year-old brain to believe their claims)

Frankly from the development of this issue, what worried me the most is not the genuinity of the reports, nor the actual state of Malaysia racial economic status.. but the arrogant Malaysia government that constantly want to show that they are always right regardless of facts.
